Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a CECT scan done for Thorax region (Chest) & the report says as below Fibroatelectatic band with calcification seen in the posterior segment of right upper lobe . The doctor from the internal medicine department who advised on this finds a degeneration on the upper right region of the lung & asked me to consult a pulmonologist for further medication. However, I need to know if the above is really fatal & to be worried about. Need your kind advise.
It most of the times represent a past infection or inflammation that affected the particular part of lung lobe. e.g. Tuberculosis, pneumonia, or any systemic illness with secondary lung involvement. If you are not troubled with any symptoms like shortness of breath, cough, sputum, or chest pain then you really not need to worry about. If any further information is needed i will be pleased to help you in that regard. Have a good day.
