Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
MY NAME IS THANIGAI VELU. AGE-46 YRS. I AM IN CHENNAI. AS PER 18.05.2014: TOTAL CHOLESTEROL - 182 HDL - 47 LDL - 70 TRIGLYCERIDS - 328 T. CHO/HDL RATO - 3.87 DOCTOR PRESCRIBED TONACT-10 TO TAKE AT NIGHT. I AM TAKING IN MORNING. (Because I take some Brandy in night}. IS IT O.K. TO NIGHT TAKE IN NIGHT? SOMEWHERE I READ, AFTER TAKING TONACT-10, NOT TO TAKE FOOD FOR SOME HOURS. PLS. CLEAR MY DOUBT. THANKS.
I can understand your problem, it can be rectified. As a matter of fact the prescribed medication is effective only during night hours. Because the endogenous cholesterol production is maximum during night hours so if you take during morning hours IT IS OF NO USE!!!
This medication can be taken after the food.
Beside high cholesterol your Triglycerides are also elevated. So you may need another medication Fenofibrate to reduce the raised triglyceride. Besides the medications, you have to avoid certain foods which contain high cholesterol like Red meat, Oily foods, egg yolk, etc. Alcohol also increases the lipid level so you have to make up your mind to give it up.
I hope I clarified your doubt.
Regards!
