my father has a bilirubin total= 0.87 which is normal, bilirubin direct is 0.28 which is also normal, bilirubin indirect is 0.59 which is normsl too but SGOT is 44 and SGPT is 38, both of which are higher than normal range. could you please guide us as to what this means...thanks!
Hello and welcome to HCM, A value of SGOT at 44 and SGPT at 38 are within normal range. ThE normal range of SGOT and SGPT or any other test for that matter may vary according to the reagents used. However, the value of both the liver enzymes is within normal range. In disease state, the SGOT and SGPT are greately increased. Thus, do not worry. Your liver functions are absolutely normal.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
