What Does The Anti-HBSAG Reactive In My Result Indicate?

Hi, I was immunize of Hepatitis B before; I have completed the 3 doses, however I didn t get a booster. I alied for a job and had Physical examination, it showed HBSAG non-reactive. Then, I got pregnant, my OB GYNE, had me tested for Anti HBSAG, before delivery, the result shows that I was Anti-HBSAG reactive, does that mean that I am Hepatitis B positve, and have passed on the virus to my child? And is there a cure, since I was vaccinised before? I hope you can answer my question. I am really anxious and scared for my child. Thank you.

Hi,
You are unnecessarily getting worried.
HBSAg non reactive means that you do not have hepatitis infection.

Anti HBSAg reactive means you have protective antibodies against hepatitis B infection. You have these in your body because of the hepatitis vaccination you received.
In simple words presence of antigen means infection and presence of antibodies means protection.
So you are not Hepatitis B positive.
Relax. You are not going to transfer any infection to your child.
But don't forget to vaccinate your child after delivery.
I hope this answer puts your mind at ease
