What Does Swelling In The Lymph Nodes Indicate?

Hello, I am a 33 year old african american female. My lymph nodes have been swollen since October 2016. You can actually see them sticking out both sides of my neck. It started when I had laryngitis, I was given Prednisone and they went down but came back a few days later, I went back to the doctor and was given more Prednisone and the same thing happened. They ve been visible ever since, they don t hurt and haven t grown in size. How do I get rid of them? Should I be seriously concerned?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

If the Lymph nodes gets reduced in size after taking prednisolone then it is not probably anything serious..
It can be an outcome of chronic infection..
As it is a long time that the lymph nodes are swollen therefore you should get an FNAC/Biopsy done..
If it is reactionary Lymphadenitis that is due to Infection then a course of antibiotics should be taken for a period of 7 days and see if it improve..
Also do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
