What Does Swelling In The Basal Ganglia Indicate?

OK so I m 30/years old male and I have type 1 diabetes I got that when I was 16 years old anyways around the age of 23 I became addicted to painkillers around the age of 26 I upgraded to shooting heroin at the age of 27 I decided that I would get clean and go to a methadone clinic well about a month-and-a-half in I developed dyskinesia now I ve had it ever since it s gotten slightly better but basically my question is did heroin cause this to me I m trying to figure out if I did this to myself but no neurologist has been able to tell me or doctor I asked quite a few I had an MRI done and they told me I had swelling in my basal ganglia and then 6 months later I have another one done and they said the swelling has gone down in my basal ganglia but it went up in other areas but just not as severe

* As per my clinical experience, the basal ganglia changes in your case are due to neurological changes of the basal ganglia as a side effect of long term use of heroin affecting multiple pathways.
* As there is abstinence from the same, with supportive therapy , it will return back to normal over a period of time.
