What Does Small Left Paracentral Disc Herniation In MRI Report Suggest?

hello doctor my husband had a problem in his back MRI has been done the report is as follows will you help me out Finding: Routine Multisequence multiplanner MRI of the lumbar spine When counting from the top of the spine appropriate number vertebral bodies are present, there for the lowermost is termed l5.The conus medullaris is normal in signal and location.the L1 L2 and L2 L3 disk spaces are preserved.A t L3 L4 there is a small left paracentral disk herniation which exerts mass effect on the left l4 nerve root in the lateral recess.T here is also a broad based bulge which is resulting in mild central canal stenosis .The foramina are reasonably well maintained. At L4L5 there is a small central disk protrusion which abuts both l5 nerve roots in the lateral recess .There is mild indentation of the thecal sacs but no significsant canal or foraminal stenosis. The L5 S1 disk space is preserved .There is a secralisation of the right L5 transverse process. No canal or forminal stenosis

Impression--- AtL3L4 there is a small left paracentral disc herniation and mild canal stenosis ,AtL4 L5 ther is a small central disc protrusion.

welcome to Health care magic.
1.The report says that the disc which is present in between the vertebral bodies has slipped/moved back wards.
2.This happens due to degenerative cause with loss of hydration, in case of trauma.
3.The disc which is herniated causing the canal stenosis - where spinal chord is passing through at level of L3-4 vertebrae - this may need to treat.
4.And L4-5 centrally disc has protruded - its not a major issue - can be treated.
5.The treatment will be initially started with exercise , physiotherapy finally operative / interventional procedure.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
