What does sharp pain under the right breast indicate?

Periodically I have a sharp stabbing pain under my right breast. It typically lasts for about 5-10 seconds and then goes away. I am a 44 year old Caucasian female who has had a full hysterectomy. In addition, I have had an appendectomy and a papilloma removed from my right breast.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in the breast quite common in females in late 40s. It is due to some hormonal imbalances and no need to worry. Look for any lump and get an ultrasound done. You can take analgesics like mephenemic acid or Ibuprofen for pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
