What Does Sharp Pain In The Knees Indicate?

The inside area of my tight knee experiances sharp pain when trying to walk after sitting with my leg bent inwards. Not as pronounced as when extended at rest, still, it takes several steps to get the pain and hobbling down to just a manageable gait once I get up and try to move around. This has been about 2 weeks now and no indication of easing up. Ice or heat seem both to work until the joint temperature stabilizes in a couple minutes and then the pain returns.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You seem to have developed osteoarthritis of the right knee joint. The pain you are experiencing may be due to the formation of osteophytes in the joint space. It can diagnose with the help of a knee x-ray. Treatment will depend upon the severity of joint destruction. Meanwhile, you should continue to apply heat and ice as it will help to relieve the pain and inflammation. Start taking a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement to strengthen your bones. There are many supplements available like Glucosamine and Diacerein which help to improve bone health. You can discuss this with your orthopedic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
