What Does Severe Pain Under The Rib Cage Indicate?

I have had a severe pain in my right side midway between hip and shoulder under my ribs for few days now, I have not fallen or twisted my torso and there is no bruising or discoloration of the skin. To be more specific as to location, it is just below the lower rib on the right side of my torso. YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
probably gallbladder. stone or inflammation. do an ultrasound of the abdomen, blood count, sedimentation, crp, and liver enzimes (transaminases, bilirubin, amilase). if that is ok,then chest x-ray. if that is ok,it could be a syndrome of hepatic flexure of the colon (the curvature of colon, beneath the liver is high, and sharp,it causes contents and gases in the colon to accumulate which leads to spastix pain) which usually doesnt require treatment. if gallbladder- def. treatment is surgical, meds can alleviate symptoms to some extent until surgery...........
