Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctors. I am 20 years old this coming April 07. Last February 11 2011, I went to healthway medical to test my blood and after that i saw the results that i am HBS AG(SCREENING)REACTIVE. What is it means? and what are the symptoms? Please help me doctors to understand what's going on. Thanks
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I can understand your concern. It is suggestive of acute or chronic hepatitis B virus infection. The presence of HBeAg indicates that the blood and body fluids of the infected individual are highly contagious. I advise you to consult your physician for further evaluation like certain lab tests including liver function tests, anti-HBS, HBeAg, IgM to HBcAg, etc. Hope this will help you.
