What Does "endometrial Thickness Of 1 Cm" On A Scan After MTP Suggest?

Hi, i had terminated my pregnancy of 6 weeks using tablets with the help of a doctor.Three weeks are over after the procedure and i have been bleeding for the past three weeks, the last week with slight bleeding. I did an ultrasound scan now and the result says "uterus is anteverted and measures 7.6*4.4*3.4 cms. Endometrial thickness is 1 cm with mild heterogenicity. It has shaggy margins.no obvious anechoic lesion seen" . I am a bit concerned because the radiologist says it is not perfectly normal. What should i infer from this ? Is there any issue?

Hello and welcome,

I understand the issue.
An endometrial thickness of 1cm 3 weeks after termination of pregnancy as such does not mean a problem. However considering the history of continuous bleeding it indicates that some bits of tissue may have been left inside the uterus during the abortion and may be responsible for the thick endometrium.
In such a case you will need a procedure called check curettage to remove that tissue and stop the bleeding.

So do not worry, just visit your gynecologist and she will explain the things to you.
Take care.
Hope this satisfies your query.
