What Does Purple Vaginal Discharge After Menopause Indicate?

Hi, I am a menopausal woman who has not had a period for about four years. Today, I noticed some purple discharge on my underwear. I m trying to think if I have eaten or drank anything that color and, other than the purple kalamata olives in my Greek salads and lots of cherries, I can think of anything I have consumed. Can you help?

thank you so much for asking your question, i will do my best to help. The main thing I would be concerned about is that there might have been some vaginal bleeding that could appear purple when it mixed with vaginal discharge. if you are sure this is vaginal discharge and not rectal bleeding , you should see your gynecologist to find the source of the bleeding. four years after menopause you should not have any bleeding, and if you do, it needs to be investigated. there are many possible causes, and usually it is a benign cause , but you definitely need to make sure. if it is rectal bleeding or discharge, and it resolves, you don't need to worry, but if it persists, you need to see your primary care doctor. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
