What does pain in the lower back on the right side indicate?

I have been having pain in the lower right back area, below the waist and around the right side [stomach area] . I know i have Gall Stones but the doctor said if they were not bothering me to not worry. I am worried the pain could be my Gall Bladder acting-up. Can you tell me what to do or what I should fell like if it is Gall Stones. Thank you.

Hello,

There I have read through your question and understand your concern. Pain in the right side of abdomen radiating towards the back does sound like the pain typical of gall bladder stone.

I would advise you to visit your surgeon and think about getting an ultrasound done for the current status of your gallbladder. Gallbladder stones sometimes lead to severe debilitated pain which may sometimes warrant removal of the gallbladder.

For time being, you can take an over the counter painkiller like Advil to get temporary relief from the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
