Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sharp piercing pain in my left ear that started this morning and has been happening intermittently (at least every half hour or even less) all day. I have no fever or other sickness symptoms right now. I also went to the dentist last Thursday for a routine cleaning but nothing else. I have no sore throat nor do I have tonsils. I had half my thyroid removed many years ago but have never taken medication and regular checks of it have all been good. What might this be?
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and treatment. The Doctor will examine ear and throat physically and ears with otoscope.
The Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (Amoxicillin) at least for 10 days along with anti- inflammatory drugs.
You should not itch or prick ear with any sharp object. Avoid excessive use of mobile from that side. Apply warm compresses and maintain complete hygiene of ear canal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
