Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having pain on the ball of my foot just below my 3rd, 4th and little toe. No obvious swelling or discoloration. Icing doesn’t help. Pain is present mostly when I walk. This occurred about a 2 weeks ago and took about 10 days for the pain to ease. It’s back again in the same spot.

1. As far as your symptoms and case history is concerned a thorough examination by an orthopedic surgeon/Podiatrist is mandatory since it could be a stress fracture or because of gout. [will take an x-ray and serum uric acid levels]
2. Other causes he might be interested to rule out are an inflammatory condition [arthritis], or injury to the nerves of the feet [peripheral neuropathy]. PS. other commonest conditions to look out for are plantar fasciitis, Morton neuroma, tarsal tunnel syndrome, metatarsalgia, tendonitis.
3. till then adequate bed rest, OTC [over the counter] analgesic like Ibuprofen is sufficient along with Vitamin B and C to help in healing.
PS. please consult your primary physician or podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
