What does pain from the neck to the left shoulder indicate?

I have neck pain that radiates into my left shoulder. I have had physical therapy which made it worse, steroid pills which did not help, muscle relaxants which did not help. I underwent injections under anesthesia 3 times which did not help and topical injections which were a waste of time. MRI shows arthritis in the neck. Am I in for a lifetime of further pain?? I do NOT want neck surgery.

Hello,

Radiating Pain from neck to shoulder is not it anything of cardiac origin rather than just arthritis? Do not you think maybe both existing together?

If I were your treating physician, then I would have definitely ruled out with EKG and echo to know your heart condition or try any different set of medication for your arthritis.

You can even go for physiotherapy which can make you feel better. There are few nerve blocks which can help you relief from pain without surgery. There is much pain to decrease modalities with patient-controlled analgesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
