What Does Numbness In The Legs Indicate?

I have a history of diabetes in my family. I just had surgery on June 29th, for s blood clot, approx. 1 1/2 long, it was removed, and a stent installed. At the time, my right leg was very painful, and my large right toe was purple, black ish and very red. That subsided, but now, both feet are numb a lot, and my legs are slso at times. I had my G.P. do blood work last week, to see if diabetes could be causing this numbness, (also weight-loss, 120lbs. at 59 yrs. old. 6 -0 tall. I got the results today, the Hgb Alc w/eAg Estimation, Hemoglobin Alc is 6.6 High. with reference 4.8-5.6 interval. is says, please note: Pre-diabetes: 5.7-6.4 , Diabetes: 6.4 , Glycemic control for adults w/diabetes: 7.0 , Estim. Avg. Glu (eAg 143 mg/dL VitaminB12 284 pg/mL 211 - 946. Most obvious, I m very confused, and just got thr results in todays mail, so I haven t got to talk with my Dr. yet. What does the results tell us?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Your results indicate diabetes.
The last value (7) is for adults who are already being treated for diabetes.
Your value 6.6 is I dictator of poor glucose control.

As you have a family history of diabetes and are symptomatic, I suggest medications, diet and lifestyle changes to control the glucose levels.

I recommend :
-a physician consult, an endocrinologist opinion
-blood tests (liver and kidney function tests, thyroid profile, lipid profile, urine analysis).
-ultrasound abdomen
-electrocardiogram and echocardiogram

These tests are to check for other metabolic disorders associated with diabetes liked high cholesterol, kidney and heart disease.

Hope I've answered your query. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health
