I use got my semen analysis back and am concerned. The results are Viscosity-normal Liquification-liquified upon arrival Volume -low-1.2 Ph -high-8.5 No spermatozoa visualized Leukocytes 1-5hpf When it says no spermatozoa visualized does that mean I have no sperm at all? Or just none were seen in the portion tested? The leukocytes confuses me. What does that mean? An infection?I did the test about 12 hours after having sex, rather than waiting 2-5 days as it stated to do. Could that be why it shows no spermatozoa? Also when I arrived at the lab with my sample thy were closed. So it had been about 1 hour 20 minutes after producing the sample that it was finally tested.Could that impact the results as well?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The sample collection protocol is incorrect thus the result is not reliable. For semen analysis, there should be abstinence for atleast 3 days and the sample should be immediately submitted to testing laboratory after collection. Since, the method of semen collection is not correct, semen analysis is not possible. The semen analysis should be repeated after atleast 3 days abstinance. Presence of leukocytes suggests infection in the reproductive tract.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
