What Does My Pap Smear Test Results Indicate?

I did a pap smear on 17/03/11. My report has come and it says that the specimen is satisfactory for evaluation. Adequate no. of squamous cells present. Endocervical cells in clusters present few of the showing mild nuclear enlargement prominent nucleoli,irregular nuclear membrane and occasinal grooving.Moderate inflamation seen in the background. Atypical glandular cells-not otherwise specified. no organisms. Please let me that what does this report mean?

Your PAP SMEAR REPORT mentions "Endocervical cells in clusters present few of the showing mild nuclear enlargement prominent nucleoli,irregular nuclear membrane and occasinal grooving"
Atypical glandular cells on cervical cytology is a significant finding ,Atypical glandular cells usually originate from the glandular epithelium of the endocervix or endometrium,your report says they are endocervical cells.A further evaluation for premalignant conditions of the cervix is required. Colposcopy is recommended and if required a biopsy will be done just to rule out malignancy.Take care!
