What Does Minimal Right Hydronephrosis Mean In A Sonography Report?
got a ultrasonography of abdomen and pelvis done, it states there is minimal right hydronephrosis and hydroureter due to 4.5mm calculus in right VUJ. 5mm calculus in right mid calyx and 4mm calculus in left lower calyx. please advise what is the future course of action... I am drinking lots of water

Hi,
Minimal right hydronephrosis is indicating minimal swelling of your right kidney. Your right kidney is not able to pass urine to the bladder, most probably due to hydroureter calculus.
As the stones size in the ureters is less than 10 mm, then, drinking water is highly recommended together with medications. I also advise my patients to use herbal supplements as tea (fern stone).
Please follow up with urologist/nephrologist for further evaluations.
