What Does Metallic Taste In The Mouth Indicate?

Ive had a metallic tatse in my mouth for over a week, everything tastes bad , bumps on the back of my tounge, foamy saliva and nausea. Feels like im swallowing my flesh and makes me sick to my stomach. Sometimes its hard to swallow and i dry heave. Also, hot and cold flashes and and my voice gets really raspy making it hard to speak. I feel better if i can spit constantly instead of swallow. No amount of cleansing seems to helpmisty

Hello,

You have symptoms of a metallic taste in the mouth which is known as dysgeusia could be due to a disturbance in olfactory sensations and sometimes due to compression of salivary glands as it gives thick saliva in the mouth.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you consult an ENT specialist or oral physician once and get the complete examination done. Maintain complete hygiene and do betadine gargles as well. Do gargle with hydrogen peroxide. You should drink fresh fruit juice. Take lycopene supplement and chew sugar-free gum.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
