Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Vaginal
bleeding between periods is called
inter-menstrual bleeding, spotting, and
metrorrhagia. When bleeding occurs between normal periods, there are many possible causes.
Bleeding between periods is not a normal part of the menstrual cycle. The causes could be:
1. Hormonal imbalance: Estrogen and
progesterone are the two hormones that regulate your cycle and if they get out of balance, you may have spotting.
2.
Pregnancy complications in sexually active persons: like miscarriages and ectopic pregnancy can cause spotting.
3. Uterine fibroids or polyps are non cancerous growths that form in the uterus.
4. Infection of the reproductive organs.
5. Cancer of the cervix, vagina, uterus, or ovaries may cause bleeding.
To come to a conclusion that what could be the cause, you would require clinical examination and some investigations. Kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard for proper diagnosis and management.
All the best.
