What Does Hard Bump Near The Ear Causing Pain In Ear, Head And Throat Mean?
I think it may be a lymph note not sure but I have a hard bump in front of my right ear that I just noticed last night cause I was having this pain on the side of my head and it went down a little this morning. I didn t do anything to it, also I m experiencing little pain in my ear, head, and throat. The pain was worse last night than it is today. What is this and should I be concerned?

Hi,
The commonest reasons for lump in front of ear and pain around are one of the following:
- Preauricular lymph node enlargement due to infection in the drainage area.
Such lymph nodes are under tight fascial covering hence more painful.
- Enlargement of parotid itself due to mumps, infection.
- TM joint that is temporo-mandibular joint inflammation.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Consult your Doctor, preferably an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like ultrasound and FNAC.
- Get started on an anti-inflammatory medicine with painkiller property such as Ibuprofen if it suits you.
- Further management as per the findings.
