What Does Fluid Filled Cervix Indicate?

I had a ct scan that shows I have a fluid filled cervix. I was sent to gynacologist who did not feel I had anything to worry about and was discharging me - but offered reluctantly to do a smear test. She attempted twice unsuccessfully - I did not ask her to stop.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

The CT scan report might have said that there is fluid attenuation in the area of the cervix. This can be due to reasons normal and abnormal. Many times there is a cystic structure near the cervix, this is to be seen again on ultrasound before confirming its nature. Smears are routinely done to study pathology. I suggest you get an ultrasound scan preferably transvaginal to assess the cervix region in detail.
