What Does Cystic Structure In Left Adnexal Region In Ultrasound Indicate?

Ultrasound revealed cystic structure in the left adnexal region. Cystic structure in the left adnexal region measuring 1.8 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm, unchanged in appeanance from ultrasound 3 months ago. May be several adjacent small cysts versus septated cyst. No free fluid or new masses. I have had a hysterectoromy 25 years ago. Any reason for concern? I am 69 years old.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Though there is no increase in size of the cyst or formation of new masses observed, in view of your age, I would suggest further investigation and if possible, removal of the cyst and pathological analysis. Laparoscopic observation, MRI of the pelvis and contrast tomography are some of the investigations available. Tumor marker tests, hormone assays are also useful. Mostly, the cyst should be benign since there are no hormone effects, symptoms like bleeding etc. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
