What Does Cloudy Urine With Odour In BP Patient Indicate?

For about 6 months I have had cloudy urine. There is also an odor to the urine that is not pleasant. I also have a back ache that comes and goes. I attribute back ache to arthritis pain, but I m not positive. I am 58 year old female. I haven t been to dr. regarding this. I take meds for blood pressure, thyroid, lyrica, and anti depressant.

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Cloudy urine in patient with hypertension, indicates proteinuria.
2. Due to progressive renal damage, proteinuria is present.
3. Along with it, dehydration could be causing concentrated urine - which is causing increased ammoniacal odor.
4. Urine examination will confirm the diagnosis of proteinuria along with increased specific gravity. Microscopy would demonstrate absence of pus cells. As it is since 6 months, urinary tract infection cannot be thought of.
5. You need to control blood pressure within the normal range to avoid further damage. Regular medication and good hydration is necessary.
Hope it helps.
