What does chest pain while suffering from degenerative heart disease indicate?

My mom is 76 she has degenerative heart disease and over the years has had 6 angoplastys and 3 stents, the last 10 -12 years she hasn t had any problems two days ago she started having chest and arm pain we took her to er they said she had had a light heart attack then later that night she had another one so of course they kept her and are trying to get her into another hospital near by that is a quipped to do a cath and see what s going on but my question /concern is she also is in the first stages of alzhymers ( repeating herself when she has something on her mind, having problems remembering people she hadn t seen in a while or things that happened in the past, had started showing confusion if something upset her but after a few minutes coming out of it, and some iratabilty ) but nothing major. My grandmother had it so I ve seen it from beginning to end and mom was just showing enough signs that we knew she had it and we needed to start watching her more .well yesterday at the er she did great didn t really show any signs of having alzhymers except arguing that it was Friday and not saturday with my sister. Today she is talking complete out of her head, confused, told us all kinds of off the wall things that she said was happening and just a complete 360% change over night. What could of triggered this? I ask about what medicines they had gave her and they are only giving her her regular meds and nitro if need, nothing for pain or no seductives nothing new. What could be causing such a rapid, drastic change in her?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The narrated symptoms suggest that there is possible side effect of some drug which is not her usual content of drug basket, as on off a sudden this presentation like Alzheimer disease is not possible. Kindly provide me list of all medicines consumed at hospital visit and after returning home for better configuration of the event.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
