Hello and welcome to HCM,
A dilated cervix implies onset of labor.
As the labor starts, the uterine muscles start contracting and the cervix starts dilating.
The cervix dilates slowly in the first stage of labor and first stage of labor lasts for couple of hours.
Fully dilated cervix is around 10 cm dilated which marks the starting of second stage of labor.
As the cervix dilates, the cervical lips begin to thin out simultaneously.
Thus, the first stage of labor is begun and you need to stay in supervision of your doctor for monitoring.

Thanks and take care
