What Does Cauterization Test Detect?

I had several tests on my heart , Myocardial perfusion imaging, SPECT, including attenuation correction, qualitative or quantitiative wall motion, ejection fracton by first pass or ghated techniquel, multipule studies. The Doc has said the test left concerns. they would like to do a caterization . What are they looking for and how can I find out which hospital is safest to go to. In St Petersburg ,Fl

Hi,
It is called as cardiac catheterization. It involved passing a small tube into heart and then into the coronary blood vessels to check any defect in the blood vessels, valves or muscles of the heart.
At times, an angiogram (dye injected) is also done to check any obstruction (partial or complete) due to atherosclerosis is present.
Look at the doctors team experience in cardiology and especially in managing cath lab specifically. Most hospitals now a days have a good setup. You can discuss with you doctor.
There are risks involved, but a good team will reduce most of the risks.
