What Does Calcium Oxalate In Urine During Pregnancy Indicate?

I am eight months pregnant. My urine test results show presence of calcium oxalate. Around 1 year back I was treated for kidney stone. The stone was flushed out with iv fluids. My previous scan and urine test report in month 5 did not show any such calcium oxalate presence. Is it a matter of concern? My gynaec has prescribed calcium tablet to be taken every night.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should inform your gynecologist for your past history of kidney stones and your urine analysis so he can rethink the continuation of calcium tablet. Maybe it is better to take vitamin D than calcium.

The calcium oxalate presence in urine says that possibility of stone formation is high.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
