What Does Brown Spotting During Pregnancy Indicate?

I am 6 weeks pregnant. When I went for TV-US Scan on 20th June, OB cannot locate Gestation Sac. He prescribed bHCG test and result was 2,253 mIU/mL. I started noticing brown smears on 22nd June. I consulted him again and he suggested to take utrogestan and asked to comeback after a week. Since 22nd June till today, I am spotting (3-4 drops/day) brown in color. I am having no abdominal pain or cramps. I started having nausea for the last 4 days. What should I expect ? Is my baby safe ?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Spotting is sometimes considered normal during pregnancy and at this point in time you should not be taking any stress. I would recommend you continue with the advise. But it is quite obvious that you are either experiencing a threatened pregnancy or have possibly miscarried. Only an ultrasound in a weeks time can really tell. Let us hope for the best.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
