What Does Ascending Polyps, Serrated One Polypoid Sessile In Colonoscopy Report Mean ?
My husband had a colonoscopy today. He is 80 years old with a history of prostate CA, and under care for skin cancer. He actually had most of his ear removed. The colonoscopy findings were: " # polyps ascending, all < 1CM, 2 serrated, one polypoid, sessile, all removed with cold snare and sent to pathology, sigmoid diverticulosis, otherwise normal. What does this mean? We were told it would take 2 weeks for results.

The terms serrated, polypoid and sessile are being used to describe the appearance of the polyps seen in the colon.
They also state that all the polyps that were seen are less than 1cm in size.
The only way to determine whether the polyps removed were benign ( non cancerous) or cancerous would be to send them to the lab, which was done.
It is possible that they are all benign.
