What Does An Itchy Lump On The Forearm Indicate?

I woke up this morning with an itchy lump on my forearm. It was hard to the touch, but no evidence of a bite mark. Now 16 hours later it is swollen and feels painful inside. It is red and still itching. It is warm, not hot, to the touch. I don t know whether I should be concerned or not.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Lumps usually form as a result of inflammation which are most commonly due to trauma or infection or both.

It is possible, if you do not remember striking the area, that the initial lesion may be due to an insect bite.

This would cause pain, redness and swelling. Treatment would consist of : (1)a warm compress to the area 2 to 4 times daily for 15 to 20 mins
(2)anti histamine
(3)anti inflammatory such as naproxen or ibuprofen
(4)topical antibiotic

If there is no improvement then you can see your doctor for assessment

I hope this helps
