What Does An Enlarged Spleen, Atrophy Of The Pancreas Indicate?
I have had chronic(10-20 x a day) diarrhea for over 2 weeks, I am lightheaded and dizziness and have a bad headache. After several trips to the ER with not much help, I had a CT of the abdomen that show an enlarged spleen, atrophy of the pancreas and a moderate amount of feces in the colon (even tho I shouldn t have any)they sent me home(unconcerned)...this morning I had a temp of 101 and now it s ranging between 94.3-95.7. I need help!!
Hi, Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic. CT abdomen revealing enlarged spleen can be due to infection. Atrophy of the pancreas is nothing to worry about as it is most likely age related and will not cause any symptoms. Apart from that, moderate amount of feces in colon when you are having diarrhea can point towards partial obstruction of bowel but unlikely. With your symptoms, I feel you are having problems because of your diarrhea which is causing electrolyte imbalance and decreased fluids leading to dizziness/lightheadedness. CT findings are irrelevant and not of much significance. I would advise you to take oflox/ornidazole combination for 4-5 days two times daily. Try to take a lot of fluids and rest for 3-4 days and you should be fine. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiologist
