I have a pretty large abscess on the upper part of my left thigh. Id estimate that its about the size of a quarter in circumference. The abscess also seems to be about a half inch to an inch deep under the skin. Today it was red and pain full but had not fully come to a head yet but in an attempt to stop it from tunneling any deeper or getting any larger I decided to lance it my self. So I washed the site with soap warm water. Then I got an exacto knife and a 50 unit sterile needle. Before actually lancing it I used the needle to puncture several holes in the abscess while also using the needle to extract blood and u must have filled this needle all the way at least 20 times about 10 before lancing the abscess and another 10 times after but it does seems to be empty yet and I am boggeled by this Honestly not much blood or puss came out when I lanced the abscess but there was still plenty of puss and blood present when I would use the needle for extraction in the surrounding areas of the abscess where I made the incision. Why did it not drain properly when I cut the middle of the abscess like it normally would is there some type of bigger problem that I could be facing please let me know thank you so much for your time !! :)
