What Does A Tender Lump On Upper Inner Thigh Suggest?

HI, I am calling my doctor in the morning, but I just ran across this site, so I figured I would ask. I am a 47 year old female (hysterectomy at age 30), and I have had a lump on my upper inner thigh (near my bikini line) for about the last month. It is not painful but is tender when I squeeze it, which I did to see if it had puss or any liquid in it. It did not, and it is not discolored in any way. It is about the size of a pea or a little larger.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A tender lump on upper inner thigh can be due to enlarged lymph node.
Lymph node enlargement occurs due to infection, inflammation or neoplasm.
Infections of the urinary tract or infectious focus in lower limb can all lead to enlargement of lymph node along groin.
Thus, I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment.
Few investigations - urine examination and aspiration cytology of the enlargement swelling (most probably lymph node) will be required.
Infection if present will be detected on urine examination.
In aspiration cytology, cells are aspirated from the swelling, stained with appropriate stains and then examined under microscope.
This investigation determines the origin and character of the lesion.

Thanks and take care
