What Does A Skin Tag On The Neck Indicate?

Hello, I have a tiny (like the tip of a pencil tiny) moveable thing under my skin on the side of my upper neck. It has never bothered me and has not changed since I discovered it 2 years ago and it is also not hard. My doctor says to get an ultrasound for my peace of mind but in the meantime what could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Skin tags are common. Most of us get them as we get older but some people get them at younger ages. Some people see to be more prone to getting the than others.

If it does not bother you, then ignore it. If you have one that bothers you, then ask your doctor to remove it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kathy Robinson
