What Does A Rubbery Lump On Top Of Left Clavicle Bone Suggest?

Hi, sorry to bother you but I am a male, 39 years old, 5ft 5 tall and not overweight, not an excercise junky but am fit and healthy, just noticed a lump on top of my left clavicle bone about 1 and a half to 2 inches in from the end of my shoulder bone, roughly were the front color bone and rear color bone meet, I know that s not exactly what there called but I hope you get the drift of it! The lump is round, bought the size of between a good sized grape and a golf ball, not solid hard but not soft, not sore to touch or press on, and feels rubbery? I have noticed for the last 6 months that I have had numbness with pain across my shoulders on and of and sometimes down my arm and took painkillers for it 2 fizzy paracodals which helped take away the pain for 4 til 5 days, not sure if it was due or related to this lump but thought I would mention it. Only noticed it yesterday, no strange feeling with it otherwise? Can you advise please?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Rubery painless, non-tender lump at the end of color bone is usually caused by inflammatory condition of the acromio-clavicular joint. My advice is clinical examination by a general or orthopedic surgeon. Ultrasound, FNAC and MRI will confirm the diagnosis. Additional tests of blood and any other investigations will lead to a specific treatment which may be medical and/or surgical as the cause will be found.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
