What Does A Red Rash On The Corner Of The Eyes Indicate?

Hi, Two weeks ago I started having a red mark about the size of 1cm appeared above the corner of my left eye & between my nose bridge. It was swelling, sore, irritated. I thought it was insect bite & had been applied Caladryl for over a week until the center was bruised, & I felt numbness around this spot. Then I stopped using Caladryl for the last 3 days. This red bump is still swelling and today I start seeing pus appearing around the bruise top surface of this red mark. I still have irritation and every now and then, I feel the sharp pain on this spot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very likely you are having a blocked tear duct and you will need to see your doctor to have an examination and proper treatment. Sometimes some patients get better with just an antibiotic ointment in the eye that fights infection and reduces swelling. In other cases patients may need some office procedures to open the duct. Massaging the tear duct will be a help also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
