What Does A Red Bump On The Upper Lip Indicate?

Hi I have a red bump on my upper lip which is painless but throbs with a heart beat at night time. It has been there for almost a week now. Initially it formed a scab and fell off but now the same bump remains. It gets dry and crusty very easily. It doesn't look like its worsening. It's not something I have ever had before. What could this be? Could it be a cold sore even though it is painless?

Thank you!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red bump on the upper lip which seems to be due to viral infection, allergic reaction to any cosmetic product and due to exposure to sunlight.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid hot and spicy food which can increase the pain. Avoid licking or sucking of lips and apply cold compresses. Spot will subside gradually with such combination of factors. You should visit oral pathologist once if symptoms keeps on occurring and complete examination done and start treatment accordingly. You should take one table of allegra to suside infection. Avoid exposure to sun and apply lip balm with SPF 15.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
