What Does A Rash On The Upper Abdomen Indicate?

I have a small rash on my upper left abdomen, and there is a band from my sternum wrapping around my rib cage towards my back, about 4 inches or so thick, where the skin feels kind of numb. The rash is in the middle of that band. My gums are also sore and irritated on the left upper part of my mouth.

Hi, thanks for your query at Healthcare Magic.

I have read your description and understand your concern.

Regarding the conditions you describe above, a rash that felt numb, and appearing between left upper abdomen and back, the possibility of these symptoms is a sign of herpes zoster infection.

Shingles is one of the skin problems caused by a viral infection. This type of viral infection is similar to the infection that causes smallpox, namely varicella zoster. It is known that herpes zoster is due to the active return of previously attacked viruses, such as having experienced chickenpox.

Symptoms experienced when exposed to herpes zoster, include:
1. Feels hot, piercing pain, and accompanied by itching on the side of the affected skin
2. Appears a reddish rash and accompanied by nodules of water
3. Accompanying symptoms such as fever, headache, decreased appetite, malaise, etc.
4. Shingles include conditions that can improve on their own. It usually gets better within 2 to 4 weeks. However, the provision of therapy is still necessary to speed up the healing process.

Therapy that can be given to overcome herpes zoster is to provide anti-viral drugs. The most common, drugs that can be given are acyclovir and valacyclovir. But I suggest you to meet your local doctor first to confirm that this is a herpes zoster or not.

Take care...
