General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

With a history of any severe illness, it is understandable to be concerned about any new symptoms but the most common cause of this type of rash is an allergic response.

You have responded appropriately with the benadryl and cortizone. You may need to use another dose of the benadryl. It can be taken 25 to 50 mg every 4 to 6 hours.

You should be fine till your appointment

I hope this helps
