What Does A Pulsating Vein On The Right Side Of The Neck Indicate?

I have noticed over the last couple months that the right side of my neck in a vein presumable is pulsating. I have no pain from it and only know because I can see it in the mirror. I have afib and a leaky heart valve. I have had a carodid artery test and a echocardiogram and these test showed nothing. Should I be worried about this and follow up with my heart doctor again since it has not gone away. Do you have any idea what it might be?

Hi,

The differential diagnosis i wld like to consider are:
1. In thin built persons, neck veins are visible.
2. Increased jugular venous pulse. This usually happens in cardiac patients. The treatment for this is treating the cardiac events properly will solwly reduce your problem.

So, kindly meet your cardiologist to rule out any major abnormalities.

Thank u
