What Does A Painful Rash Around The Lower Ribs Indicate?

I have a rash on the right side of my mid section between lower rib and illiac crest (hip bone). It has a sensation similar to a herpes breakout, tingly and painful. It does not look look like a herpes blister or a shingles blister. Is it possible that it is shingles. If so is it to late to get a shingles shot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Most probably you may have shingles. You should use Acyclovir as soon as possible better if you use it in the first 48 hours to stop spreading and symptoms.

Doing a vaccine doesn't help you immediately but it needs some time to give protection. It will help you only for another breakout.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
