Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump on my ribs that s about 1 inch from the middle of my chest to the right, the lump is as big as a golf ball. And sticks out about 1/2 an inch. And I get very sharp pains in it. I had seen my family physician (everything to him is caused by smoking) yesterday, and he said it is costochondritis. I ve never heard of it, I do have chronic bronchitis. Can you please give me your opinion?
It does sound like costochondritis, inflammation of joint between cartilage and bone past of the ribs. I suggest getting an X ray and also get it checked by an orthopedic surgeon. Till then I recommend taking an over the counter pain killer like Acetaminophen and warm compresses to the site of pain. Hope this helps, thank you.
