I ovulated last week and went I went for a ultrasound before starting a icsi cycle they found a 21 mm follicle on my right ovary. Why is that there? does that mean I didn t ovulated when the tests said I did?I have PCOS aswell. Im wanting my period to start a new cycle, when do u think this could be expected
Thank you for the question and thank you for visiting our site.
In the setting of PCOS, where women do not ovulate on a regular basis, seeing a follicle of this size indicates that you are likely ovulating. Especially if you are taking ovulation induction drugs, such as clomid, your chances of ovulation are increased significantly. It might be that ovulation is slightly delayed from where you expected it to occur, OR you formed two dominant follicles, one of which released an egg, and the other which is still present on ultrasound. You cycle is expected about two weeks after ovulation. So if it is delayed, and you are not pregnant, then ovulation was delayed / occurred later than you thought.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
