What does a flap of skin hanging off the uvula indicate?

My 19 year old daughter is in perfect health ( since first grade only missed 4 days of school)
She is home for the summer after her first year in college and showed me a flap of skin hanging off her uvula. It doesn’t bother her at all. What do you think?
How can I send you a picture?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

A flap of skin hanging from the uvula can be a soft tissue overgrowth, an uvular papilloma, etc. A clinical examination is a must to rule out the exact cause of the growth. However it need not to be something serious but still the exact cause needs to be ruled out and treated accordingly. You should consult an Otolaryngologist or an Oral surgeon and get evaluated. You can upload pictures by clicking on Ask me a Question in my profile and ask a detailed question there.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have a small lump that resembles a skin tag next to my uvula. It’s not painful just slight irritating. It is hanging on by a very thin piece of tissue and moves around easily. I don’t have insurance so any idea of what this might be or how serious it would be is helpful.

I am a 28 year old 145 lb. Mommy of 3. Recently went to see an ENT regarding a mishapen uvula-sticks out in sort of like a little ball, instead of hanging down. Dr. took a look and said I needed to have a biopsy. My deductible is $3000, apparently the procedure would cost about $300. I just cannot afford that right now. Not trying to sound like an idiot-I know these things are important, literally a financial issue only. Do you think he could be just recommending the easiest possible procedure...I am so sorry and hope I m not offending anyone, just a little scared I guess. Health HX, relatively healthy I believe, no medication-tonsils out at age 16 and one d/c at age 23-miscarriage. Height:5 7

I have had a weird feeling of having food stuck in the back of my throat for about a month. Examining it a little today, I noticed that my uvula looks a lot bigger than normal and I have some sort of skin tag or something on my left tonsil. A little worried
