General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Viral infection of upper respiratory tract is often associated with ear infection and Eustachian tube dysfunction (blockage). This is explaining why you are having today your left ear making this creaky sound when you move your jaw or touch your ear.

I advise to perform Valsalva maneuver (take a deep breathe, hold your breathe, close your mouth and pinch your nostrils shut; then try to blow air through your closed nostrils; if you'll feel a popping sound from your ears, then, they are unblocked and you wont feel creaking sound anymore).

Keep blowing your nose, and apply warm pads on your ears.

If no success, then, should get further examined by ENT specialist as you might need prescription medicines.

Wish fast recovery.
