What does a craving for ice indicate ? Can it be dangerous for my health ?

I m a 47 year old women weighting 13st 5 10 tall and have an excessive craving for ice, is it harmful to me? So far it has cause me no harm at all, is there any particular reason for this craving?

along with medicnes u need to take psychotherapy eversion therapy in which there is treament to get rid off this pica or habbit of eating non-nutritional food have to rule out the cause of stress in your life and try to slove tha problem but dont escape it by substituting by eating ice getting releif temporarily.dr.bharathi

1. This condition is known as Pica.
2. Craving and chewing ice is also known as Pagophagia.
3. It may be realted to:
a. Iron deficiency anemia.
b. Stress.
c. Zinc, Calcium or Magnesium deficiency.
d. Gastritis.
e. Glossitis (swelling and pain in the tongue, secondary to iron and multi-vitamin deficiency)
4. You may discuss this with your doctor to investigate and help treat the cause.
5. There is no harmful effect except ice can cause frequent sore throat and cold-stimulus headaches.
